Outdoor Leadership Experience FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions:

What do we wear? Wear clothes that allow you to have a full range of motion and are comfortable for you. Clothes toed shoes are required. Keep in mind what time of year you come and dress for the weather.

What if it rains? Cedar Grove staff will keep up to date with the weather and if the forecast calls for inclement weather, we can reschedule for another day. If rain starts while you are here, we can move many of our initiatives inside.

Can anyone go through the program? YES!! We will customize your experience to however physically or mentally challenging you would like. We have many different elements and initiatives that will especially suit your group.

Why go through the Outdoor Leadership Experience? Cedar Grove Retreat believes in getting people out of their normal, everyday element and into an environment where they can learn more about themselves and how they fit into the structure of a team. From business organizations to a school basketball team, people have to work together to achieve a common goal. Everyone is a leader in some way, and we hope that participants in our program will realize their full potential.

What is the role of the facilitator? Cedar Grove Retreat’s trained facilitators will lead and direct your group safely through the initiatives and elements. They will give guidance as needed, but will allow the group to be creative in accomplishing its goal. The facilitators will also lead in a debriefing time after each event.

When is the Outdoor Leadership Experience offered? The Outdoor Leadership Experience is offered year round, so plan to come whenever the time is right for your group. Cedar Grove staff will work with you to come up with the perfect schedule to fit your needs.

What is the minimum and maximum number of participants for Low Ropes? For the 3 hour low ropes session, there is a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 45 participants. If your group has more than 45, be sure to tell the office because we might be able to bring in more facilitators to help in your group’s experience.

What is the minimum and maximum number of participants for High Ropes? For the 3 hour high ropes session, there is a minimum of 10 and a maximum of 14 participants. Multiple High Rope sessions can be held in one day, so feel free to bring your whole group.

Is food service available? Yes, food service is available. Please check out our Food Service section on our website and also contact the office for availability.

Is there an age limit? Yes, there is an age limit. We ask that all participants be in the fifth grade or above.

What is required of the participant before coming? We require that all participants fill out an Activity Participation Agreement that can be found on our website.
